Foundational Authority
Charter of the Mint
The governing statement of purpose, recognition, recording, authority, issuance, and permanence for the ModernValor Mint.
Purpose of the Mint
The ModernValor Mint exists to formally recognize and permanently record moments that should not pass unmarked.
These moments may involve service, sacrifice, achievement, remembrance, resolve, or legacy. They are often moments that were never formally recognized, yet were significant enough to warrant permanence.
The defining act of the Mint is not the manufacture of an object. It is the deliberate recognition, recording, and preservation of what has been determined worthy of remembrance.
The record is the institutional act of the Mint.
Nature of the Mint
The ModernValor Mint is a private digital mint.
It is not a design service. It is not a storefront. It is not a manufacturer of novelty items, replicas, promotional tokens, or mass merchandise.
The Mint does not begin with a product. It begins with a petition and a determination: whether an act, service, sacrifice, achievement, remembrance, resolve, or legacy warrants permanent recognition under Mint authority.
No purchase, payment, fabrication request, or commercial transaction can compel recognition, recording, or issuance.
Petitioning the Mint
Petitioning the Mint may be undertaken:
- for oneself; or
- on behalf of another whose actions, service, sacrifice, achievement, resolve, or legacy warrant permanence.
Petitioning is not a request for a product. It is a request for recognition, record, and issuance under Mint authority.
A petition provides the context required for Mint review. It does not guarantee acceptance, direct the final symbolic execution, or create a right to issuance.
The Mint evaluates every petition according to intent, meaning, factual context, and appropriateness for permanent record.
Recognition and Recording
When a petition is accepted, the Mint formally recognizes the subject of that petition and establishes a controlled record under Mint authority.
That record identifies what has been recognized, the authority under which recognition occurred, and the lineage through which the recognition is preserved.
Recording precedes and governs the artifact. The existence, possession, fabrication, or display of an object alone does not constitute recognition or issuance by the Mint.
What the Mint recognizes, the Mint records. What the Mint records, the Mint preserves.
Issuance
Issuance is the formal act by which an accepted recognition, its controlled record, and its authorized physical expression enter the permanent Mint lineage.
Every issuance is reviewed, specified, authorized, and recorded by the Mint. Issuance is limited, deliberate, and intentional.
Payment, manufacture, delivery, or possession does not compel issuance and cannot substitute for Mint authorization.
Issuance is a decision, not a transaction.
The Artifact
The artifact is the physical token of remembrance associated with an authorized Mint record.
It carries the symbols, wording, form, and material presence through which the recorded recognition may be held, displayed, presented, and carried forward.
The artifact is intended to possess weight, distinction, permanence, and ceremonial presence. Its craftsmanship honors the significance of the record it represents.
The artifact is not the authority, the record, or the purpose of the Mint. It is the enduring physical token of what the Mint has recognized and recorded.
The Permanent Registry
The ModernValor Registry is the Permanent Registry of recognition and issuance maintained by the Mint.
Each Registry entry preserves the controlled record of what was recognized, when issuance occurred, and the lineage through which that issuance continues.
The Registry is not subordinate to the artifact. Loss, damage, replacement, transfer, or retirement of a physical artifact does not erase the original act of recognition or its recorded lineage.
Later events may be appended to preserve continuity, but the original act of recognition and issuance is never silently rewritten or replaced.
Records may be verified, but never altered.
Permanence
Recognition issued by the Mint is not temporary, casual, or provisional.
Once formally authorized and entered into the Permanent Registry, the original act remains preserved as part of the Mint's permanent institutional record.
The artifact may endure physically, be replaced when authorized, or eventually pass beyond recovery. The record remains.
Mint Authority
The authority of the ModernValor Mint derives from its disciplined control of recognition, recording, issuance, and permanent Registry lineage.
The Mint retains sole authority to accept or decline petitions, determine appropriateness for permanent record, authorize symbolic execution, approve issuance, associate an artifact with the record, and preserve the resulting lineage.
Artifacts are issued under Mint authority, not by external institutions, manufacturers, vendors, or commercial entities. Production assistance does not confer Mint authority.
Authority carries responsibility. Recognition and issuance must therefore remain controlled, limited, deliberate, and worthy of the permanence they create.
The ModernValor Mint exists for the moments that should not pass unmarked. It exists to ensure that what mattered is recognized, what is recognized is recorded, and what is recorded is carried forward.
This Charter is the foundational statement of purpose and authority for the ModernValor Mint. All petition, recognition, recording, issuance, Registry, and artifact practices are governed by the principles established herein.
